Bay-Arenac Community Mental Health
Susan Allred is a licensed Master’s level social worker who has been a therapist for over 18 years. Susan has a Bachelor of Social Work from Northern Michigan University and earned her Master of Social Work from Michigan State University. Susan began her counseling career as a therapist working with adults at the Bay-Arenac Community Mental Health Center. She later expanded her clinical focus to include children, adolescents and adults while working at various Christian outpatient clinics. Susan worked for Wedgwood Christian Counseling Services in Traverse City before joining Pine Rest in 2008.
Susan is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Academy of Certified Social Workers. She has a special interest in working with senior adults and earned an advanced Certificate in Aging from Grand Rapids Community College in 2008.
Other areas of clinical interest include loss and bereavement, marital counseling, adjustment disorders, treatment of anxiety and depression, spiritual concerns, and stress management. Susan is available for speaking engagements in the community on topics such as loss and bereavement, help for family caregivers and forgiveness.
Susan participates with Faith Community Outreach, an initiative within Pine Rest that seeks to connect area clergy, churches, and ministries to services available from Pine Rest; as well as develop new services specifically designed to benefit the faith community.
